I am a third generation art educator. I was fortunate to be raised in a family where art making was valued and encouraged. In my work as a teaching artist, I strive to help students to connect with their innate sense of agency and competence by combining technical instruction with process based art. Providing students the skills they need to feel comfortable directing the outcomes of their work is central to my pedagogy.

My art practice is rooted in research and experimentation. I work primarily in textile, printmaking, and environmental art. While these practices deeply inform my teaching, exchange with students offers rich ground for experimentation and allows me to explore and continue to build skill across diverse media. I have taught classes in printmaking, sewing and garment design, painting, drawing, and sculpture to students ranging in age from pre-k through older adulthood. Having taught primarily in Title I schools and public libraries, I am committed to supporting students of all backgrounds, abilities, and stages of life to feel and know that art is for them.
